An international triathlon "Ironman 70.3 Bangsaen" is held to promote sports tourism, in accordance with the government's and local agencies' policies, to achieve international standard and recognition and to develop Thailand as a sports hub destination. The tradition of "Ko Phra Sai Wan Lai", originally called "Ko Phra Sai Nam Lai", is when Buddhists bring sand into the temple to help develop it as well as the local community. As time passes and it's no longer necessary to bring sand from water resources, it was renamed "Wan Lai" or "Wan Lai Tradition" comprising almsgiving, bathing of Buddha images, sand Buddha image sculpting contest, traditional local sports and festivities. The communities in the Municipality have carried on the Wan Lai tradition as part of Songkran festival up until the present time.
